Yesterday was a rest day, and much rest was had. Laundry (in a musty washer - it came out smelling certainly no better, just different), breakfast at the Ranch House (excellent drip coffee), wandered around, picked up souvenirs, charged devices, etc. I spent a good portion of the day hanging out and chatting with Kade, a high school AP history teacher from Montana who lives in Colorado. He’s doing the GDMBR from near his home in Montana to his home in Colorado. Best of luck!

I slept poorly unfortunately. I didn’t want to get up to pee in the middle of the night, so I stopped drinking water some time around 7. Instead I ended up dehydrated and still needing to pee, so that was a total fail. My spirits were boosted by the breakfast buffet at the restaurant.

The riding was fine as well, not particularly noteworthy. It might have been psychological, but I felt more out of breath climbing up to the summit of the whole tour - Togwotee Pass.

The descent into Dubois felt long. I ended up staying at the Episcopal church in town, which has a community room that doubles as a cyclist/hiker hostel. It was a festive night, with 5 other TransAm bikers and 1 CDT thru-hiker sharing the room. I had dinner at the Vietnamese place nearby; I wouldn’t recommend the fried rice with pork (too salty and the pork was chewy), but their “Cowboy Springrolls” were good.
