A pretty good day. I had a big breakfast at the Plains Trading Post Restaurant in Douglas.

The wind was favorable/calm pretty much the entire way, except for a few miles at the end. I camped at the Prairie View Campground just outside of Lusk. The owners were very helpful and offered me a variety of options for setting up my tent in more sheltered spots, as a storm was on its way. I ended up camping in their covered driveway, which was wise, since the storm hit hard over night. An unfortunate downside of my setup was that the geometry of the driveway meant that highway noise was heavily amplified. Passing semis were straight up deafening, so sleep wasn’t great.

Storm clouds in the distance.

Dinner: 2 packs of ramen, 2 packs of tuna. Edible.

Unrelated/meta comment: I’m obviously writing these entries well after the fact, though I try to take notes during the day-of so that I don’t forget interesting details. A consequence is that I can never quite figure out what tense or perspective I should be writing these from. I don’t have the energy to figure out a consistent approach, so this is more just a PSA.
